How does your world look?
Sitting by the window,
watching the sky grow darker,
layer by layer
connecting the moon’s scattered pieces,
as it glows through the branches.
Birds move in soft circles,
as if they are celebrating something,
the newborn green leaves,
the trees wrapped in blossoms.
Nature feels too beautiful to hold.
Looking at the windows on the other side of the street,
sometimes I make stories
about the people who call those rooms home.
Some lights are warm and yellow,
some are flickering
and some of them are dark for days
I think about how closely we all live together,
yet, how distant our worlds can be
we all carry different universes inside the same world.
There is something paradoxical about it
living only a wall away from strangers
while aching for the closeness of someone thousands of miles away.
Distance is a strange thing.
Each of us lives in a different world
painted in different colors,
shaped by different memories,
guided by different values,
filled with small and private meanings.
And maybe beauty begins the moment we open the door to that world,
when we start translating ourselves for another soul.
Those friends,
who learn the language of your silence,
the ones who remember the smallest details about you,
which gift makes you happiest,
which words can bring you back to yourself.
Tell me about the world you live in.
What color appears there most often?
Tell me about the tiny details,
the quiet corners,
the things no one notices but you.
I would listen to all of it.
With love
